I have found recently that in the Network Connections
(Control Panel) I have an "Internet Gateway" connection.
I have no idea what is it or how did it apeared there.
I'm the administrator of this PC and I'm using WinXP
(without any SP).

When I right click this connection, the delete and the
status option is grayed. So I can't delete it.

The strange thing is that the name of the connection is
alwase changing.
here are some exampels for the nanes of the Internet
Gateway connections:
"Local Area Connection 3 on US"
"Local Area Connection on MOSHE"
"Local Area Connection on MIRI"

I have no computers on the newtork and no users
with such names.
I have run the latest untivirus check and no viruses were
found.

Any idea how to remove this connection?

Have you added a router to your LAN to be able to share
your DSL or cable broadband connection with multiple PCs?
If so the router is UPnP(universal plug and play)
compliant and XP will recognize and configure it as the
Internet Gateway. This gives you the features of dynamic
port forwarding for UPnP compliant software such as
Windows Messenger, etc. This keeps you from having to
manually open TCP or UDP ports that your software needs
to communicate across the Internet among other features.
You won't be able to delete the connection in Network
Connections. If you don't want to use the UPnP features,
most routers will allow you to disable it. That will make
the Internet Gateway connection disappear in the Network
Connections. Consult the router manufacturer on how to do
this in the router setup.

Hi
MOSHE - A common name of a male in Israel. Aka Moses.
Miri - A common name to a female in Israel. Aka Miriam.
Would not solve your problem, but nice to know.

I'm not using any routers.
I have only 2 PCs connected with a network cable directly.

A) Sounds like you need a firewall

B) Uncheck the Internet Gateway Discovery & Control Client in Window
optional components.

I am using firewall - Norton Personal Firewall 2004 with
the latest updates.
I have 2 coputers connected to a local network, and the
second computer connects to the internet through the
first (this).
