Sharing Connection with STB

Elias

Forgive my ignorance, i tried to read the forum but couldnt find something
similar.

I have winxp on my laptop connected wirelessly to DSL router. I have a VPN
connection to external network. What i want to do is to be able to connect an
STB (satellite receiver, with network setup enabled) through the VPN
connection i have on my laptop.

I connected the STB to laptop with an ethernet cable. now i have in Network
Connections: Wireless network connection, Local Area connection, and local
area connection 2 (with the VPN IP).

Can someone guide me how i can let the STB connect throught the VPN
connection. What is the IP and Gateway that i need to put in both Local Area
Connection and in the STB network settings. If i need to enable the "enable
users on the network to connect through this computer network connection" on
which connection should i enable it, and then what do i select under "home
networking connection"

Maybe i am doing it the wrong way, and it's not enabling that option that
should resolve this issue?

I appreciate your kind help.

Thanks.

Hi
There I No basic VPN connection per-se. VPN is an Encryption addition to a
normal existing connection. I.e. the regular traffic is encrypted on one
side and decrypted on the other.
The VPN is maintained only between the two sides of connection that are set
specifically for it.
P.S. If you call the local Wireless security VPN, instead of using the terms
WEP or WPA , this type of secure connection is Not needed and Not used in
Wired connection.
