Network card IP value when offline

On my NT4 box, my network card would show up
as my preset address IP when offline; for
example 10.0.0.5 (ipconfig /all )

My windows 2000 machine does not, and instead shows
the loopback address of 127.0.0.1 when the machine is
off the network.

How can I fix this? I have licensed software which
expects to see 10.0.0.5 and will fail to start when
my system is off-line (I have a Win2k server laptop)

I really don't want to have two license keys just to carry
my laptop to a customer to do demos'.

Thanks in advance -

See tip 2698 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com
Then have 2 hardware profiles, connected and not connected.
