Vpn connection, but no resources found. Routing table woes.

Hello RRAS community. I have a small network with one
server and two offsite vpn clients with trouble
connecting. They can connect to the VPN server, but
cannot see, ping or connect to any resources. The problem
looks like it is routing based on the route tables and
failure to find network resources. Below is details of
the network and client. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Private network: 10.0.0.0/255.255.255.0, default gatway
10.0.0.1, server 10.0.0.5

Server: IP 10.0.0.5, Windows 2000 SP3 domain controller,
DNS, WINS, DHCP, HTTP.
[internet] -> speedstream router -> firewall appliance ->
Server.
The router is just passing traffic along with no special
routing. The firewall is doing normal firewall stuff and
port forwarding.

Client: Windows XP home, cable modem (wide open west),
linksys 4port router (192.168.1.0/24). The cable
connection uses a series of WAN miniport driver, MAC
adapaptor and virtual adaptor to connect to the internet.
I suspect this is where my problem lies specifically with
the routing looking at the VPN IP, subnetmask and
gateways. Here is the IPCONFIG and NSTAT -R routing table
on the client when connected to my server.

you may want to use tracert to find out where the traffic go. Also have you
enabled ip touting?

The routing looks OK. Can you ping LAN machines by IP address? If you
can, routing is working. If this works, can you ping by name? The client
seems to have the correct IP address for the LAN WINS and DNS servers.

If you can ping by name, can you see shares on LAN machines using net
view \\servername ?

Thanks for the reply Robert.

Ip routing was turned on in the RRAS management tool. I
tried enabling IProuting/demand dial routing, but no
change in finding resources.

-Using tracert on 10.0.0.5 (my server) the connection dies
without any response.
-Using tracert on the 192.X.X.X network yeilds results,
but not to my 10.0.0.0/24 network.
-Using tracert on www.yahoo.com produces expected results,
but uses the client computers ISP for resolution. (also
tested with nslookup and default was the ISP dns)

I am wondering if my problem doesnt stem from the VPN
adaptors IP subnet mask of 255.255.255.255, instead of
255.255.255.0 which is the subnet mask of my network.
or maybe the route table?

Looking at the routing table confuses me a little and this
is what I am seeing/thinking. Maybe someone can see
something I am not. These are the routes that seem to
apply to my network.

I don't see how the traffic can get to my server unless it
is encapsulated to travel to 66.x.x.57 first. If that is
the case is forwarding ports 47 and 1723 enough to permit
VPN connectivity?

Currently the VPN client can not ping, tracert, net use,
net view, nslookup (pointed at 10.0.0.5) to any resource
on the VPN server. There just doesn't seem to be any
communication past the initial VPN connection.

Does this look right to you in the PPTP adaptor settings
for the VPN clients IP address?

The subnet mask is definitely not your problem. If you look at your
routing table you will see you now have a default route through the dialup
link. ie

0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 <received IP address> metric 1.

This means all traffic (except 192.168.1 x ) will go over the VPN link.
It doesn't need a subnet route. Are you sure you cannot ping any 10.x.x.x
addrsses by IP number?
