Network cable unplugged?

Hello,
Somedays after boot up my computer XP SP2, i get "network cable
unplugged" icon but it's not true, because i can surf the net. Also if
i enter and exit adapter properties under network connections,
"connected" icon comes back. Or if my computer opens somedays slow due
to high amount of applications installed, network cable seems
"connected"

This usually happens if my computer opens fast like booting after 5-6
XP "loading" bars pass.

I set a group policy: Start > Run: GPEDIT.MSC > Computer Configuration
Administrative
Tools > System > Logon > Wait for the network at logon and restart >
activate. But that didn't work.

Shortly, XP SP2 recognize my "connected" LAN too late rather than
Win2K Pro.(tested)

How can i overcome?

Thanks.

A common complaint. My PC consistently complains that the Wireless LAN
adaptor cannot be found, but happily uses it when required to do so.

Really? However i only saw that problem under Windows XP SP2, under
W2K Pro, it has completely "no" problem.

I strongly this it's about Windows's unpatience. It's a timing
problem. Also i have updated tcpip.sys with no solution.

To detail the problem: Someday (especially if you're using auto-logon
instead of waiting sometime at the login prompt entry), if your
computer has a few apps and if your computer is fast, that means your
computer will open fast. At this point, after loading everything
fast,OK, but one thing is missing --> LAN recognition. It seems
"network cable is unplugged" but there's NO actual networking problem.
It's only about network icon which is not true.

Isn't there a fix?

Vrey thanks for the response.

This could very easily be a driver problem.
Have you connected to your NIC / Computer manufacturer's website to see
if there is an updated network driver available?

I tried but Surecom doesn't reply, even the mail cannot reach their
support site. Their drivers are ancient.

It's possible that the driver you're currently using is more ancient.

This might be a clue that it's time to replace your NIC card. They're
cheap.

No, I've searched all the net including 3rd party driver sites with no
newer driver surprisingly.

My NIC card is "Surecom EP-320X-S" card and the most recent driver is
2.74.1113.2001 (shown as 2.70 generally).
If you find newer than that, it would be kind of you... (it has MTD80X
MySON ethernet controller)

Yes, they're cheap, i only see Realtek-based ones (RTL81xx series)
nowadays only.

Thanks.
