Network Browsing list issue

Bobson

hi everyone, thank you for your help in advance.

We are running AD nature mode with 300 XP PCs. We also have GPO to disable
"Computer Broswer Service" on each client... in the past, we could only see
some servers in our domain under "Network Neigbhood" (I know it is an old
name from W95/98 :))

Currently, I found out there are more and more PCs but not all browse up in
the network neighbourhood which we do not intend to. I check out those PCs
and they still have "COmputer Browser" disabled.

WHy did this happened? In order not to let those PCs appeared there, what
should I do?

Thank you for your help!

I'm unsure of what you're asking. In order to see computers in the
network neighborhood list, only one computer in the subnet needs to be
running the Computer Browser Service. If you're trying to hide
computers from the browser list, you should try one of these approaches
instead:

"Hide Computer from the Browser List"
<http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/58/>

"HOW TO: Hide a Windows 2000-Based Computer from the Browser List"
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321710>
(Applies to XP as well)

HTH,
John
