Hello,

I am using windows xp pro sp1 and for some reason cannot browse the entire
network and cannot access a public shared folder from anywhere else. I
suspect I have switched on the xp firewall somewhere ? ( I have checked my
LAN connection and firewall is not on here )

Please help !

Carolyn

To eliminate the xp firewall as a possible cause to your problem, you can
stop the firewall service.
Use the command:

net stop sharedaccess

It will tell you that the service is not running (if it isn
t) or it will stop it if it is?

You can then continue your troubleshooting.

To restart the firewall service - net start sharedaccess.
