Can't browse network anymore

R

Richard Speiss

I have a small workgroup network at home (MyLAN) and I was able to browse
all of the computers on it until sometime this week when I somehow lost the
ability.

Computer A - Windows XP Pro (all patches installed)
Computer B - Windows XP Home (all patches installed)
Computer C - Windows XP Home (all patches installed)
D-Link DIR-655 Router

Each computer has their hard drive(s) shared

Last week,
A could browse B and C
B could browse A and C
C could browse A and B

Now,
A cannot browse B or C
B can still browse A and C
C can still browse A and B

So it looks like something changed on Computer A.

When I open "My Network Places / Entire Network / Microsoft Windows Network
/ MyLAN" I can see all of the other computers on the network but when I
click on any of the other computers (or even my NAS device) I get an error
like this

"\\ComputerB is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if
you have access permissions.

The Server service is not started"

When I choose to browse computer A (itself) I can see the shares.

The Server service is started on all computers. I have removed the shares
on each computer and shared them again with no difference.

I also removed the Computer A user from Computer B and re-added it again
with no change

Does anyone have any thoughts about what is going on and how I can access
the other computer's shares again?

Many thanks

Richard

Turn everything off, including the router. Then tirn everything on again. If
it works, there ya go. If it doesnt, hen scan for viruses on computer A. Then
goto the computers and grant the other computer permission.
