network 2 PCs together

hi,

I have a laptop and a desktop that both have Win2000.
They are connected to a D-Link 4port router to my
broadband ISP. Does anyone know how to network these two
computers together so I can transfer files back and forth
to each other?

hi,
Does this dlink router have Ethernet Ports????IF it have u can connect both systems to the ports through straight cables & assign ip address for both system with the same subnet mask.
If u don't ve ethernet ports on your Dlink router u can connect both system through a cross cable.Enable file sharing ..TCP Ip ,Assign IP address in same subnet mask.. both systems cud communicate each other
