JJ,

Where to find .NET Framework 2.0 SP1, .NET Framework 3.0 SP1 and .NET
Framework 3.5
setup log files
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2008/04/30/8445569.aspx
Logs produced by the .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 setup wrapper:

* %temp%\dd_dotnetfx20install*.txt
* %temp%\dd_dotnetfx20error*.txt
* %temp%\dd_depcheck_netfx20*.txt

Strongly suggest you contact Aaron Stebner as he is *the* guru on .NET
installation issues and the author of the verification tool:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/contact.aspx

Copy those log files to the Desktop so as to preserve them. Aaron will
request you email them to him.
Hang in there ... I think the improper installation of .NET 2 SP1 is
affecting .NET 1.1, which Outlook requires as a runtime.

I cleaned outlook (said it repaired successfully - not sure what/if anything
was wrong).

I installed .Net V2 SP1 again (used your verification tool again - and it
referenced the error in the install - again). Rendered Outlook inaccessible
- again.

Have uninstalled .Net V2 SP1 - again - Outlook OK again.

In previous note - I was wondering if the info from the "depcheck" file in
the tmp folder held any clues as to why the installs are seemingly - failing.

I also notice that each time I do an uninstall via the add/remove function -
it still leaves the .exe file in the folder that I have downloaded the appl
to (I then deleted the .exe file manually).

Why do you think I cannot get a clean install of .NETV2 SP1 and why does it
appear (except in your verification tool) that it installed correctly? Why
does what is getting installed - mess up outlook?

I'm sure you are doing all you can to help - do you think we are getting
closer to a solution? Sure its as frustrating for you as it is for me!
Thanks for all your continued assistance.
