nero cd burner

Trying to use Nero 7 and burn large files (1gb+) by spanning, but I
don't see any prompts for doing this.

May be automatic, not sure, look over the above link or check in with Nero
customer support on their products spanning capabilities or limitations..

What file system are you using, NTFS or FAT32..?
What media are you using CD, DVD..? Have you tried InCd 5 with -RW media..?

Nero BackItUp will automatically compress and span disks but it can't be
done if you want to make a data disk. You would need to use a file splitter
and then burn the separate parts.
