Why is Vista so crap, are you people at microsoft so busy counting your
millions that you have forgotten that you are meant to be providing a
service? Nero 8 will not run on my computer ITUNES will not run on my
computer and I am not running a ZX Sectrum.

NERO 8 runs just fine on my system.

If you are receiving a Visual C++ Run Time Library Error after removing Nero
7 then
installing version 8.

To correct this, run the Nero Clean up tool at least 2 times before
installing version 8, you can also do it if you did not run it before and it
will remove all remnants of both 7 and 8. Then proceed to do a clean
installation of version 8 again.

SmartStart is working nicely by the way on Windows Vista x64!

Funny as the other 2 have said. I have Nero 8 working just fine. iTunes
also works. Ever think it was your PC??

Apparently he didn't.

Tip. If you use the Nero Cleanup Tool, it may take a LONG time to run and
it can look like it isn't doing anything. Be patient.

For many, Nero 8 does work as does ITunes, so there isn't a universal bug
preventing these things from working. The fault would appear to be local to
you.

Supplying more info re error messages will help others give you advice which
may well fix your problems..

I haven't updated to Nero8 but have Nero7 running on HomeBasic. I have 1.5G
memory and it works fine. My only observation is that on XP, the same
program has many more options for audio input channels. Seem to be limited
to Line input only on my Vista machine. Not sure though whether this is due
to Vista or the Sound 'card'.

Nero 8 and Itunes doesn't work on my built pc (vista). Duno why but
itunes when "determining gapless playlist check" when u drag in music
from the hardrive then crashes it all, the only way i found round this
was to work my itunes library off my external hardrive that works fine.

Nero 8 just comes up with this program has to close bla bla so went
back to nero 6!

?? Nero 6 is not compatible with Vista. How can you go back to Nero 6 and
have Vista??

How can he answer that? Do you really expect for him to have the technical
answer?

Same here on VHP... Nero 8 and iTunes work fine.

The only problem I've had with ITunes was the 2738 installation error, which
is easily fixed.

Seemed kind of logical to me.

He said "duno why". I kind of took that to mean...HE DIDN'T KNOW WHY. So
again I ask....Do you really expect for him to have the technical
answer?

For those running Itunes, I have 2 vista machines, and while both run
Itunes, I have to wait 1 to 2 minutes everytime I start Itunes while it
"Installs" - EVERYTIME. on both machines. Is anyone else experiencing
this? and does anyone have a fix?

Thanks

No, I don't have that problem.
iTunes loads in about 15 seconds, and lists all music files, and plays them.

I was initially having problems with Nero 8's "Smartstart" launcher not
working with my Vista install. It would load and then promptly quit with
an error message.

Eventually I found a fix at the Nero website. It involves the
installation of two hotfixes (KB936181 and KB941833) that are available
at the Microsoft website. I downloaded/applied both, and Nero 8 began
working properly afterwards.

I didn't ask for a technical answer. I only stated a very basic observation
that Nero 6 is incompatible with Vista so that it is impossible for him to
go back to Nero 6 when Vista is the OS. Maybe I missed something.
