needs help...windows media play problems

hello

i have this strange problem where when i try to export my
avi's (movies) into a video making program(such as Adobe
premier), the screen of the avi is blank, and it doesnt
show in the program. But when i try to open it where it
is located in a folder, it opens perfectly. why does this
happen?
