Need Video / MMC Drivers

Cr

Hi all,

I recently a warranty replacement card for my old ATI AIW 128 Pro.
They gave me a AIW 8500DV, cabling but no CD or software. This has
become a big pain because of the lack of this software and I only have
the old stuff from my previous card (MMC 6...) The stuff I downloaded
off of ATI's site does not want to work completely, I suspect that I'm
getting errors because the MMC software seems to require certain files
that are isntalled as part of a CD based install (I could be wrong)

1.) Any recommendations as to which drivers to install?
2.) Does anyone have an image that I can work with for the CD?

THey are charging 14.00CDN for the software and $14-17CDN for
Shipping....

thanks!

If it was a warranty replacement, you should have the original driver
CD? Try that if available. I've found that only the original CD which
is way out of date according to version numbers, is the only set of
drivers that works (AIW 9600XT). All the latest updates/upgrades fail
to work correctly in some way.

Hope you find a solution.

I very much doubt that. I own an AIW 8500 (non-DV) and have no problems with
the stuff I get from ATI - if I uninstall all previous ATI stuff first. For
some reason, neither the catalyst drivers nor MMC like to be installed over
previous versions of themselves (in fact, they often complain about missing
files if that happens).

May I suggest that you uninstall all ATI-related stuff and start over,
installing each component one-by-one and rebooting every time.

You shouldn't need the original CD at all.

Normally the only software you can't install without a CD is the DVD
player, Cornell. If that's what you're referring to, your old CD
should serve to validate up to the 7.6/7.7 DVD player. For 8.x and
9.x versions you will need a new CD: the reason for this is that their
DVD players are licensed from other companies; up to and including the
7.6/7.7 version from Ravisent, and 8.x onward from CyberLink. The CD
is to ensure that the licence fee has been paid - this would, of
course, be included in the new price of a card.

You've effectively paid the Ravisent licence with your old card/CD,
but you haven't paid the licence fee for the CyberLink player by
buying a Catalyst Software CD or a 9.xxxx + card.

But, apart from the DVD player, all the other display and capture
drivers, Control Panel/Centers and other aspects of MMC should install
and function on a Built by ATI AIW. If you're having problems with
these, please post back here with more details.

If that was a warranty replacement direct from ATI, I'd give them a call and
explain the situation--it looks like they screwed up--they should have
either sent you a board that works with your driver CD or sent you a new
driver CD.
