Foolishly I accepted the offer to download SP2 to my
laptop. AFTER it was all done the system reported that
there were known compatibility problems with my broadband
and gave a link to check out details. Of course, clicking
the link produces nothing because my connection to the
broadband has been destroyed. I was having no problems
before all this nonsense and feel like a fool. How do I
unistall SP2 to restore what had been a perfectly working
machine?

Reboot
Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.
Near the bottom, double click "Service Pack 2"
Follow prompts and reboot.

But first check with your laptop manufacturer and broadband supplier
to see if there is another fix.
There probably is a simple fix as opposed to the drastic
uninstallation of SP-2.

Thanks. I will check for a solution to the problem, but the
immediate task is to get back up on line.
