I'm trying to help a friend who just got a new PC with Win XP (English),
but not Office XP. He needs to get the Japanese IME so he can enter
Japanese into the Google search box. I thought that this page,
<http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/recommended/ime/install.mspx
, had what he would need, and told him to select "Japanese - with Language
Pack" from the drop-down menu, and download it.

He did this, but when he tried to run the program, he was told that it
wouldn't work with his operating system. So what do I advise him now?

Thanks,

Jack Crane

It seems that page is for Win XP Pro. My friend has XP Home.

Did you even look at the Control Panel in Home? It's there.

OK, a little less shorthand here. Is the page you referred me to going to
work for my friend's XP Home? I can't check it out because I have XP Pro.

Thanks,

Jack
