Using WinXp Pro Sp2
In the Event Viewer/System I have:

Error

The master browser has received a server announcement from the computer
YOUR-8006683A8D that believes that it is the master browser for the domain
on transport NetBT_Tcpip_{CDEC5B59-524. The master browser is stopping or an
election is being forced.

Warning

The time service has not been able to synchronize the system time for 49152
seconds because none of the time providers has been able to provide a usable
time stamp. The system clock is unsynchronized.

Can someone help me what I am suppose to do for this 2 warnings that I am
getting in the Event Viewer/System folder????

As always, thank again for the reply in advance.

Master Browser issue:
Disable the Computer Browser service..
- Go to the Start Menu, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and open
Services by double clicking on it's icon.
- Find "Computer Browser" service and double click on it.
- Under Service Startup, choose "Disabled".
- Click the "Stop" button
- Click "Ok"
- Close the Services Window
- Close the Control Panel Window

Time issue:
- Switch to a less busy time server in Date/Time properties. For a list of
internet time servers operated by NIST, visit
http://www.boulder.nist.gov/timefreq/service/time-servers.html.

And/Or..

- Synchronize the clock manually in Date/Time properties.

Why turn off this service when the "error" is showing that it is working as
intended? So what if more than once 'puter on the network is vying for the
master browser status? One will win out and be the master browser, just as
intended.

Why have the computer browser service on when it may not be able go across
the routers and/or considering the additional traffic it causes with all of
its elections?

And if your network is small enough where the traffic is not a concern, then
there is unlikely to be any need for it there either.

I did... for the most part.
I will repeat it however.

If you need further help - refer to the built in help and support on your
computer.
You can search for Date and Time Properties and "Computer Browser Service".

the original setting???
Thanks, Ohan

Turning it back on may result in more events. As stated in this thread -
what you are getting is not an *error* - per se - but proof that it is doing
what it was designed to do. What happens on a network is that a "Master
Browser" is elected, based off senority. The machine that has been on the
longest generally wins the election.

The problem is that these elections go on all the time. They cause a lot of
needless network traffic just to say "I'm here.. see me.. I'm here.. see
me.."

If you are a member of a domain OR if you know the name of all the network
resources you want to use (drives you might map from another computer,
etc..) then you don't need computer browser. It simply gives an easy-out to
find things in your "Network Neighborhood". If that last quoted phrase does
not sound like something you use (or "My Network Places") --> then you truly
have *no use* for the "Computer Browser" service - and you should leave it
off.

Thanks Shenan for complete explanation...
I do have 3 computers and 1 laptop which are networked to each other.
The computer that is giving me *error* (I know now it's not error) is a
custom built computer and it behaves different from other computers and
laptop, by saying behave I mean in the event viewer the new computer does
not show any security events, all the other computers including the laptop
shows security events.
The same is with Date and Time, when I check the Date and Time property in
laptop and other computers in the Internet Time tab Server see
*time-b.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov* and bunch of other names, in the new built
computer I see only *time.windows.com* and that is the only name I have, how
come I do not have all the other names? This matter is over my head and I do
not understand, that's why I always post these questions to you.
Your last reply on Time Issue, all I did is *Update* and hope it works,
tried to match computers to one another but I can not, each is different.
Again, I do thank you for taking time and helping me to understand and solve
my problems.
