Need Help with Taskbar please

For some odd reason when i have more than 2 windows opened at once, these
black arrows come up on my taskbar and shorten the length of my windows on
the taskbar.

Here is a pic, to display the problem.

Not sure if it was a button i pressed to make it this way or what. Please

Right-click the taskbar and uncheck "Group similar taskbar buttons", Apply, OK

Thats not the problem, ive tried everything on the properties list. The
window buttons were normal length, then all of a sudden they got small and
had that black up and down arrow applied.....

Right-click the taskbar, uncheck "Lock the taskbar" and then move the width slider to the right
to make more room for running programs buttons. Lock the taskbar when done.
