I need help with Windows Messenger. I can't delete it as I occasionally use
it for business. But I REALLY need it to stop popping up every 5 minutes and
asking me to sign in! I have NO contacts listed in it, no files, nothing!
But I will be working on something and up it pops. Cancel out of it and then
figure out where I was typing, etc. I HATE IT!!

Go to systemcontrol and software and deinstallit where Windows components
can be removed or added.

Or

uncheck the "automatically start with windows"-option in the propperties.

The automatically start with Windows is already unchecked. If I uninstall
it, I won't be able to use it when I need it.

Are you using Outlook Express?
When you start Outlook Express, Windows Messneger will try to log on. To
stop this go to the Tools on the toolbar in Outlook Express and select
"Options. Select the "General" tab and uncheck "Automatically log on to
Windows Messenger."

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! I am actually running Outlook, but I figured it must
have the same thing! It does-but buried. The only clue to it is on the
other tab when it says something about using Smart Persons and has the icon
for people. I unchecked that one, then went to the Help file. Sure enough,
when I searched for Messenger the instructions to ENABLE MESSENGER were to
check that box! Nothing for keeping it quiet though. :(

You're welcome Kim.
