Need Help with HP ScanJet 4300C & PrecisionScan LTX 1.1

I've just recently had a problem with the HP scanner software. When opening
PrecisionScan, text is missing from the settings area, and the button in
section 5 is there but has no text on it. When I select the button, the save
as window comes up, but there are no choices for how to save the scan.
Therefore, the scan cannot be saved. The scanner will scan, but I have no
access to any of the settings even through the menu at the top of the
window. I have uninstalled the software per HP's instructions and
reinstalled from the original CD that came with the scanner. I have also
downloaded the software from the HP site, but the problem still exists. HP
tells me I now need to use their phone support (which isn't free), but I
wanted to see if anyone could help me before I resort to that.

Have you made sure that your video drivers are up-to-date? Could be the
problem.
