HP PrecisionScan Pro still there!

Recently, I replaced an HP ScanJet 6300C with a CanoScan 8400F. Before
installing the 8400F, I uninstalled the 6300C in Device Manager (Windows XP
SP2). I uninstalled HP PrecisionScan Pro 2.0 in Control Panel--->Add/Remove
Programs. I scanned the registry for any mention of PrecisionScan Pro and
deleted them. Upon installing the 8400F, it works perfectly. The problem
is that any program that offers a choice of twain devices; i.e., Paint Shop
Pro, PaperPort, even Word, still has the HP PrecisionScan Pro 2.0 listed as
a choice.

I'm not losing any sleep over this since the 8400F works well; but, if
anyone has any suggestions I'd be interested.

Look in C:\Windows\Twain_32 for the old twain drivers. Delete the folder(s)
if found.

Also look for Twain001.Mtx and Twain00x.Mtx (x is a number 1-9) and so on
in C:\Windows. There may be one or more or none. Backup the Twain00x.Mtx
files before deleting. Windows should rebuild the needed file the next time
you use the TWAIN interface.

Look for Twunk00x.MTX (x is a number 1-9) in C:\Windows. Backup then delete.
Windows should rebuild the needed file the next time you use the TWAIN
interface.

Thanks for the response.

I found an old driver which I renamed. But I suspect the real help came in
the last sentence of your response. I had done all the cleaning and
deleting, but I didn't do a scan. After doing a scan, it seems that
everything was rebuilt properly. Thanks again.
