Need help with "Bad CRC" on downloads

I receive a message, in various forms, "Bad CRC" when I try to download
updates from reputabale sites (Corel, Logitech, etc.) Dome recent actions
that may havae caused this: restored a backup using Acronis; tried a deep
defrag using System Mechanic (which seemed to hang up.)

Is this a software or hardware problem? Suggestions for fixing it?

Sounds like bad RAM - test your memory using Memtest86+

I believe this requires a download, which is my problem - when I try to
download, I get a "bad crc" I will try the corsair site (I have corsair
memory.)

Use another computer to download and burn the CD-R on that computer as well.
