Need help with accessing files on a DVD+rw

B

Bob

I have a DVD+RW disc with about 25 files on it. I was created about a year
ago, and I have been able to add files to it up untill today.
I put the disc into my DVD drive, and the drag to disc Roxio shows "Blank
disc." Try to check the files on the disc, and it comes up blank. I go
into properties, and check and what I get is this: used space 0 bytes
free space 0 bytes
capacity 0 bytes
the entire disc is blue.
I know the files are there, I just cant seem to find them or how to access
them.
I have two boxes with windows xp professional on them, and I get the same
problem with both boxes.
Is there a solution? Can I access these files with out loosing them?
If I could get the files, I could make a copy of the disc.
Thank you, Bob K.

That's why people have stopped using packet writing software (like
Drag-to-Disk and InCD): There is no guarantee that you can read the disc
again once you exit the burning software. That's because packet writing
doesn't close the disc.

Suggest you look for help on Roxio's user forums.

I had this problem a few years ago - hence the momory of how to cure it may
not be a 100%, but what I remember I did was start the Roxio software, pop
the disc in the drive , and then in one of the drop down boxes , well hiiden
is 'Finalise CD' , which I did and it allowed me then to recover the files.
At that point I abandoned the InCD software - forever... It was soooooo
unreliable...

It may be that your memory is playing you tricks because you cannot finalise
a DVD+RW in packet format (UDFRW). You can finalise a DVD+R because it uses
a different format for packet writing (UDFR), but as InCD doesn't support
the latter mode, it is rather unlikely.

Locate ISOBuster and install this. This might be able to see the
"files" on the media. If not, you are out of luck.
