E Drive changes name when DVD+RW disc is installed

Hi:

Yes, the name changes in Explorer to a CD drive.

Also, my Roxio will not read the disc, either blank or a full disc.

I have to keep restoring by computer but the problems keep happening.Today,
Windows would not even recognize any disc in the E-Drive. I have flashed the
latest software for my NEC-DVD+-RW 3450A and did not improve..I went on
Microsofts Website and there may be a hotfix for this.

Please help,
Mark

sure, the name changes with each different disc. This is called the Volumne
Label. There is a good chance that the disc is blank and it is just using
it's serial number as the volumne label. You won't be able to read it
because there is no table of contents yet. I have had some discs that were
unreadable by Nero. I think it was due to incompatibility with the drive.
Used a + instead of a -. Not all drives like the RW discs either.

hope you figure it out.
