Last night I was burning a video I made. So I was waiting for it finish on
this program called Cheetah Dvd Burner. All a sudden it stopped and said
something was wrong and so the cd popped out of the cd/dvd drive. I took it
out and tried burning it again with a new disc. I inserted it but the usual
message that always pops up when i inseret a new disc did not pop up this
time.. So I was like ok.....maybe it doesn't pop up this time no big deal.
After clicking the burning button a message popped up saying I need to
insert a writible disc or a new disc. So I took another new disc and tried to
burn it but it did not work. I even tried putting in a cd to listen to it
after but it did not even play. I then checked the my computer folder and it
shows there in a disc in the e drive or somethinbg like that, it's titled
DVD-RW Drive (E:).
I clicked eject it would open up the dvd/cd slot but there ws no disc and so
I pushed it back in and still it shows there is a disc in there.
I tried uninstalling the dvd burning software but it did not do anything for
the cd/dvd drive. And I checked the properties for it and it says everything
is working properly.

What should I do?

First turn off computer, wait 2 minutes and restart.
That, or something like that, should fix it,

Run the autoplay repair tool. See if that helps.

the results were: This AutoPlay setting cannot be fixed. Either the device
is malfunctioning, or the wizard cannot determine the problem

This is really hard!

Look in your registry. Check the keys,
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
and
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explore
In the right panel look for "NoDriveTypeAutoRun" See if it is set to
0x00000091. If it is anything else, modify it. I think b5 disables the
cdrom. Shouldn't be b5.
Other then that you could try a restore point if there is one set before
this happened.
You also could make another user on your machine and see if your device
works there. That would rule out a hardware problem anyway.

I had a similar experience with one of my Lite-On Burners. Everything
checked out fine except the drive would not read
or write. In the Trash. New LG Drive worked fine.

Is it possible for me to uninstall it and then reinstall it. I was thinking
of doing that but, I'm afarid that it I can't reinstall after, because like
what if it need a disc for reinstalling part. I don't have any cd software
that has to do with the cd/dvd harddrive that came with the computer when I
bought.
