CHANGES in what happens when a cd or dvd is loaded. How do I restore?

Hi, I've been running Nero OEM 6 for two years and mostly it's no
problems. last week however I needed to copy the recovery disc for xp
and to do that, had to get another burning ware, Imgburn (it was the
quickest way, software wise). I was told it would do the job of
copying a bootable software cd smoothly and reliably and it did, it
dseems a really good ware. But afterwards there's been obvious changes
in what happens on loading the cd/dvd tray.

What used to happen was of course that the "unit D:" box opened in
Windows Explorer and asked: do you want to play through this disc,
play in real player, burn a cd in Nero/nothing". After I'd loaded
imgbburn, at first imgburn entered where Nero had been ("do you want
to burn a cd in Imagburn?") though I hadn¨'t promoted Imgburn to first
choice program in any way. And then, this dialogue box stopped popping
up completely. I can still read and burn discs no problem, but there
is no automatic option to see the contents when the disc is loaded.
And what's more, if I want to do a multi-session burn the programme
(Windows Explorer, niot Nero) tells me the disc has no free space, so
it can't be used for a new session. Multi-sessions burns still work,
but I can't get any info on if there is free space, or how much!

This is a nuisance, and I would really like to know what I should
correct to get things back to normal. I'm running

Winodws XP SP1

IngBurn 2.3.2.0

Nero OEM 6.6

Winodws XP SP1 <=== You should update to SP2.
IngBurn 2.3.2.0
Nero OEM 6.6

Try these:

Uninstall ImgBurn, and uninstall Nero with Nero CleanTool:
http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
(Be sure to read about the serial number.)

Run AutoPlay Repair Wizard:

Check to see if AutoPlay opens with Explorer.

If it does, install ImgBurn and read install prompts for any autoplay
choices. Then reinstall Nero and again read install prompts for any
autoplay choices.

Hope the above fix the problem.

Why couldn't you use Nero? AFAIK Nero OEM 6 comes with Nero Express. No need to
select "Burn a bootable disk", you can choose to either "Burn a data disk" or "Copy
entire disk", both of them will create an image first and then you burn the image to
disk. Unless your recovery disk isn't bootable you shouldn't have any problems.
