Need help with a series of Crashes on newly purchsed DELL
XPS desktop.

I purchased a Dell XPS desktop approximately 3 weeks ago
and have encountered numerous crashes / BSOD. I'm hoping
that I'm posting this information in the correct
newsgroup, if not can someone point me in the right
direction.

At the bottom of this document I will list my hardware and
software specifications.

The errors on the blue screen were varied and today's was :

( 0x86427532, 0x000001BB, 0x00000002, 0x00000003,
0x0000000B )

if this helps.

Prior to today's crash I spoke to a Dell technician over
the phone regarding the other crashes. It seems we may
have resolved that problem ( I think ). He came to the
conclusion that I was having problems with Drivers
associated with McAfee and Kingston products. I fully
removed those products and the crashes stopped up until
today ( it was about 3 days of trouble free operation ).

I'm simply looking for advise and input from someone
knowledgeable with this type of problem.

I'm also trying to figure out if everything was software
related as opposed to hardware related. Reason being if it
is hardware related I have only 2 days left until I can
return the desktop & I really really do not want to do
that, for a variety of reasons.

If anyone reading this can possibly assist me I would
greatly appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Andy L. / Chicago

I have found many BSODs to be caused by either the sound or video card
drivers. Especially if the BSODs are occuring mainly during startup. Make
sure you have the latest drivers installed from the manufacturers website.
Does your device manager show any problems with drivers i.e. yellow
explanation marks?
I was also curious if you installed any programs or drivers after purchase
of your Dell desktop? If so they could be causing your problem. CD burner
software has also known to cause problems if not XP compliant. You might
also try going to msconfig and unchecking startup programs which run in the
background that you don't need (maybe one of the background programs is
causing the problem).
You might also try the following sites which are invaluable:
http://www.aumha.org/elist.htm
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
Good luck! Look on it as a learning experience. Troubleshooting my own
problems helped me learn more about computers.
