i have windows xp pro sp2 all updates etc. how do i share all drives, all
files, all folders without having to log in? i want to share my entire pc
for myself on my lan and don't want to log in at all. i want the c drive
shared, the system folder etc. Every single thing. i don't wanna have to log
in anywhere. if this is not possible can you set it uip so you don'tneed a
password but you can log in with username only? i am the admin too.

the pc will be connected from another pc that is also winxp and my xbox via
xbox media center. each pc has different user accounts. i don't want to log
in at all on either. i connect from xbox to stream music and movies, but it
always asks for log in. it does this for each pc, each folder etc. i don't
want that. and i don't know how to save the log in in xbox media center
media player thing so it won't ask me anymore on either pc.

I'd be so eternally grateful to any help.

Hi,

How to Get Rid of the Logon Screen and Login automatically

Windows XP - solution 1:

Select Run from the Start Menu, type "control userpasswords2" {without
the quotes}, and click Ok.
Turn off the 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer option', and click Ok.

Windows XP - solution 2:

If you have one user account and no password configured, Windows XP
will log you in automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to do the
following:

Obtain and install the Windows XP version of TweakUI. You can get it
here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
You want the 147 KB version on the right-hand side of the screen.

Open TweakUI (it's in Start => Programs => Powertoys for Windows XP).
Expand the Logon branch, and click Autologon.
Turn on the Log on automatically at system startup option, type your
username and password, and click Ok.

1.Turn off Simple File Sharing on all machines. (In Windows Explorer go to
Tools-Folder Options-View and scroll down to the bottom)
2. Ensure that each machine has the SAME User set up with the SAME password
and the SAME access rights.
3. On each machine, right-click each drive and click on "Sharing and
Security".

use it, but over the lan from file and folder sharing.

Thanks.
I've done that and more and still am asked to log in etc on folders, files
and drives etc. Rarely does it not ask to log in. I just don't want to log
in at all.

Are you logged on the one machine as a different user to the one who created
the files and folders on the other? Try going to Advanced Permissions and
allowing the second user on the remote machine full access to those folders
and files....
