Need Help Setting up HP 5610

My parents just bought me the HP 5610 All In One printer for my birthday.
The copier and scanner work fine but the software will not load on either of
my pc's. So the printer and the fax are not working.
I have a desktop Dell running windows xp home with service pk 2 and a (less
than 2 year old) Dell Inspiron 8600 wireless laptop running windows xp pro
with service pack 2.

I keep getting a message telling me the software needs the service pk 2 disk
to continue. ( I don't have this disk, I downloaded the service pack 2 on
both pc's, been told by HP help center I really don't need it to continue but.
......) Then pops up and tells me the USB print and USB are stopping the hook
up.

I have been back and forth with HP online help center. They have given me
idea area idea of what to do. None of it has worked as of yet!

Any ideas anyone?

You can try pointing it at the C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles folder or you can
redownload the whole of SP2 and burn it to a CD,

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&DisplayLang=en

Don't worry about it saying for networks.... it's just its the whole of SP2
in one go (rather than in dribs and drabs on Windows Update) and is often
used by folks who have more than one PC. All you have to do then is
download it once, burn it and then install it on each and every PC instead
of waiting for each to go get it in their own time, so if you have more than
one PC it saves time and internet bandwidth.

If you're ever in the position of having to reformat, you will also have a
copy of SP2 you can install BEFORE connecting to the internet so you get all
those essential updates before entering the land of cybernasties.

this little utility has the complete collection of MS updates all in one,
and lets you pick and choose.
