I have problem with explorer in W2K Pro. I have problem
running program from the desktop, <start><program>. I
can't access <my computer> from the desktop. The only way
i can run win explorer is through <start><run>, but I
would still unable to run most of the program. For
program listed on the desktop, it simply show hourglass
and nothing, but if run from <start><program> it will
show error message 'unable to run this command' though
some limited program will run (those that's not listed in
subfolder under <program>. Most of control panel is
unaccessible with similar error message or another error
message 'access to specified device, path or file is
denied'.
Im running W2000 pro on Pentium III PC with 256 MB RAM on
administrator account. This is an office public computer
shared with many users under a single power user account.
No registry changes have been made on administrator
account.
Any suggestion to what is the cause of it? damaged
explorer? or explorer policies registry violation?

\hkey_users\.default\software\microsoft\windows\currentver
sions\Explorer

ab default REG_SZ (value not set)
Reason Setting REG_DWORD 0x00000005 (5)
Shutdown Setting REG_DWORD 0x00000004 (4)
