Need help in installing SP2 on a Compaq Presario 2700

I've tried to install SP2 on my laptop four times now, and it keeps failing
the same way each time. About 30 seconds after the login screen come up, it
goes to blue screen and reboots. Even if I don't touch the keyboard or
mouse, it reboots every 90 seconds.

Doing an uninstall of SP2 while in safe mode restores my computer to a
working state, but the reminder that SP2 has not been installed keeps coming
up every few days. I did a live chat with an HP technician, but he could not
help.

Have you checked out the information on the Windows Update website regarding
the downloading and installation of Service Pack 2? There are specific
steps to be taken when preparing your machine for the installation. You
need to make sure you have the latest drivers, scan for viruses and malware
and so on.
