Need help configuring static IP for printer

Hi --

My printer was beautifully configured as a network printer until I bought a
new computer with Vista and a new router. Now I can't seem to replicate my
settings and it is necessary to reinstall the printer every time I want to
print.

The Netopia 3347 router has a DHCP range of 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.253.
The "supposedly" static IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.95. This was
configured in the printer at the time that it was assigned.
Every time that I reinstall the printer, it is "found" as 192.168.1.1.

I've reconfigured another port to use the old 192.168.1.95, and exactly the
same settings as on the old computer with the old router but then the
printer won't work at all. It shows as Offline, even though it is not.
After trying that, I must always disconnect the cable and reinstall again.

Please, can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Break the problem in half:
reconnect either the old router or the old computer. Then tell us which
element is causing the problem.

Already tried that. After I reconnected the old computer and the old
router, then the network printer still didn't work anymore.

1. Go into the Netgear's configuration utility and change its DHCP range to
something like 192.168.1.1-200.

2. Refer to your printer manual as to how to print a page showing its IP
address. This is usually done by either certain button presses on the
printer or some printers have a menu where you can print out its general
settings. Once you have its IP address, open a browser on any computer on
the LAN and go into the printer's configuration utility. This is done by
entering the printer's IP address in the address bar, although some
printers have a configuration utility installed on a computer. Again, refer
to your printer manual.

3. Once in the printer's configuration utility, change its IP address to
something *outside* the Netgear's IP range (which it is currently not and
that's why you're having problems) like 192.168.1.203. Also make sure DHCP
on the printer is disabled.

address.

If the printer is connected then the Network page in Vista will show the IP
address. At least it does here...
