Hi guys..hope i've posted this in the right forum..

Well here goes,i'm about to dip my toe into the murky depths of building my own PC,and with about 2 grand to spend i was wondering what you would suggest spending the money on,AND more importantly where to spend it.

I've never bought anything PC related from the web,so i would like a few suggestions as to good stores to buy from,(hence why i posted it in here :)).

Any buying advice would be welcome.

I'm looking to go down the AMD/PCIe route so go crazy post a few ideas for me and i would be most grateful.

Hello Fozzie ... welcome to PCR

Well, for a £1000 one can build a pretty dam good system, then the other £1000 could be spent on a 42" Plasma inc 2year OSW and speakers (actually its £995 inc VAT)

As to what to buy and where ... I'll leave that to our residents who will just love to spend your money. :D

I will make one suggestion ... as you have an excess, in money that is, find a supplier of recommendation and get the whole kit from them. It really will make sense to go that route.

well there are so many retailer out there now!
too much competition!

Nowadays I shop with www.kotech.co.uk
I have found that they do price matching and can beat any online price should u ring them!

but in the past I used to deal with
www.overclockers.co.uk i found these ppl fast to get the goods out but very expensive
also i found their customer service is very poor..

www.overclock.co.uk i found these very good to deal with but once again they are expensive

www.dabs.com
when u want RANGE of items this is your place, ive ordred a couple of times from them very impressed.

www.ebuyer.com
what do they say?
pay for peanuts? GET PEANUTS! lol

welll they are v cheap but kotech laughs at them nowadays
i dont like the delivery waiting of ebuyer.

well hope this heads u into the correct direction!

I know what my next system will use ...

As you have plenty of 'dosh', have peak at This 'Hardware Confusion' Article ... well written and will offer some more guidance to what to look for.

I've been following a sckt 939 build at another forum recently, and the guy used a Zalman, that one, with an Asus board.

According to him it's secure, huge, efficient and quiet.

Just out of interest, I finished this system off, with best mouse, top of the range loudspeaker system and a silver 19" TFT Monitor with 8ms response time. The keyboard is corded.

All from same supplier:
Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse - 46.94
Logitech Media Keyboard - Retail - 15.86
Logitech Z-680 THX® Certified 5.1 450 Watts Speakers - 234.94
Iiyama ProLite E481S-S 19" LCD Monitor - 281.94

Total price for whole system: £1948.65

Cheers chaps, lots of things to mull over feel free to post anyother specs :)

One thing though, those heat sinks do look a little like lawn mower engines :)
