I'm trying to save a database file from a hard drive to a
disk, in order to transfer it to a new computer. I
followed someone's (Wayne --- thank you!!) suggestion on
how to move the file, as I'm really unfamiliar with
Access, and it seemed to work. But, the file is too big
to fit on a disk. Can anyone explain to me how I can
compress(?) this file so it'll fit on a floppy disk? This
is an old Windows 95 computer I'm working with. Thanks!!

From the Access menu, try Tools->Database Utilities->Compact and Repair
Database. Might make your database filesize smaller.

First, repair and compact it.
Next, Compress it, with winzip or other compression tool

If after compressing it is not smaller than 1.44, then it will not fit on
the floppy.

.....but WinZip supports "spanning", so that you can spread it over
multiple floppies.

Alternatively, if your old machine has or can be given internet
access, send it to yourslef as an email attachment.

Please respond to the Newsgroup, so that others may benefit from the exchange.
