My XP won't group similar taskbar buttons

No matter how many times I check and uncheck the "Group similar taskbar
buttons" in the Taskbar and Startup Properties, XP (Pro) will NOT group the
buttons. I've used this on other computers but it will not work on this
computer. Any suggestions?

with modifying the registry

after you review the above
and obtain the feeling of
what needs to be done,
make a system restore point
before modifying the registry
manually.

then to the registry editor
click on start>run>regedit.exe
