Windows xp has started grouping all windows into one in the taskba

Group similar taskbar buttons IS UNCHECKED

All the windows in the taskbar are now grouped into one with 2 arrows beside
it to scroll between windows. Can anyone tell me how to undo this?

It even groups different windows i.e. firefox with IE and anything else that
is running in to one tab. Group similar taskbar buttons is unchecked. This
happened after installing IE7 but rolling back to IE6 does not undo this.

Hi,

Firstly take a look at the following registry key (Start/Run/regedit)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced,
if you can find a key called TaskbarGroupSize. First export it (right
click/Export) and the delete it (right click/Delete). It is all described in

You can also take a look at Kelly's site for a reset tool (left column line

If this does not help, test the issue in a new user profile and if it works,
just copy the setting from the old one:
