I currently have win wp pro. While formatting, I
received an auto-update (from MSI Live Update), eversince
this audio drive update installed on my xp pro, AGP 8xs
lot does not initiallize the video card (GeForce FX5200
Ultra).

There were many attempts to boot the xp pro, including
bios, bios flash, forced flash, etc, etc,,,,
Most everything I thought of.

PLEASE... HELP!!!!!!

P.S : Spec to my PC

MSI 865PE Neo2 serise / 512MG dual DDR
400MHZ / MSI NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 ....

I don't see how you could have received an update from
MSI while formatting your hard drive. I would suggest
visiting the MSI website and manually download the
latest BIOS update and create a BIOS update floppy disk,
then reflash your BIOS. The instructions appear at the
MSI website.

Ref: http://www.msicomputer.com/support/bios_result.asp

After flashing the BIOS, prepare to install
Windows XP as follows:

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

NOTE: If you have an internal Zip Drive installed, physically disconnect the
EIDE and power cable to it before proceeding, otherwise your main
hard drive may not be assigned the customary C: drive letter.
After installing Windows XP, you may then reconnect it.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

===> Accessing Motherboard BIOS
===> http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to format the existing
C: Windows partition (preferably NTFS) and then install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. ==> Immediately after installing Windows XP, turn on XP's Firewall.

7. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

8. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

9. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:

Hey~ thanks for the reply...
I've tried more than five times flashing bios...
of course, followed MSI instruction..
I tried every version seem compatible..
BUT...
When restarted PC as instructed, I HAD NO VISUAL???
I mean I had no visual... No thing comes out on both
my monitors except black screen.
All cables have been checked twice, three times...

Need to find a way to get visual back on screen.
Oh, I've also tried "telnet' from my labtop, it's
networked with my PC desktop> but no success...

Anyways... Thank a bunch 4 U'r reply, but it seems
until I get visual back there's not much I can Do.

Open the BIOS and make sure the following settings are correct:

PNP/PCI Configurations --> Init. Graphics Adapter Priority --> AGP/PCI

Advanced Chipset Features --> AGP Aperture Size --> 128MB

If the above settings are correct, carefully remove the CMOS battery,
wait about 15 minutes, reinstall it and go back and set the settings again.
Also, make sure your video card is property seated in the AGP slot and
locked down.

The only problem is that I can't see anything on the
screen.
Belive it or not, I've tried removing batt (thought it
might have been a power prob.) but it'd dtil not working.

Only if I can get into Bios with visual on screen...
Thanks again~
Stil hoping for replies to come... Sy

Make sure your monitor cable connecter attached to the video
card output port is secure. You may have a defective video card.
