my XP is muted

Hi am trying to see if someone here can helpme out with
the sound in windows xp. The thing is that I was using a
a program,exactly I was browsing for my music and I
recive a buch of UMF(unidentified music files)when I
wanted to clear the list the promp asked for "remove from
list I you know the rest MY COMPUTER WORLD IS NOW SILENT
and I don't want to reinstall windows.Is this possible.

Right-click the volume icon in the System tray for BOTH items in pop-up
menu. Uncheck any "Mute" items so marked. You may have unknowingly done
this.
