My 'synchronizing folders' icon is constantly going

My synchronizing folders icon in the lower right hand bar is constantly
indicating that synchronization is happening and it is making my outlook slow
and at times freeze up. I have tried "send/receive settings - cancel' as
well as a variety of help queries. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the
whole MS Office 2007 thinking it was corrupted or perhaps a virus. Sometimes
when I press send recieve it goes to an infiinite loop and the numbers of
files sent/received is in the hundreds so I shut downthe computer....what to
do? I have spent a day on this already and as I am self employed, this is
serious impacting my ability to do business.

To which interval do you have set your automatic send/receive settings?
Do you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook? Disable/uninstall
this integration and try again.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/20

There is also a small display bug which shows the Outlook icon in the
Notification Area as like it is doing a send/receive while it is not. This
is only a display bug and doesn't do any harm otherwise. This will be fixed
in Service Pack 2.
