My status bar and unread messages

My status bar used to show me how many unread e-mails I had. But now
something is different, it only tells me how many items I have (read and
unread).

Does anyone know what I need to do to toggle my status bar back to telling
me how many unread e-mails I have?

I have the same issue. I tried going to File > Folder > properties. There,
you can find the properties for the current folder, eg. the Inbox. There is
an option that says show number of items or show number of unread items.
Even if the option is set to "show number of unread items", my status bar
still shows the number of all the items. Something is wrong in Office
Outlook 2003. I do not know.
Can anybody help? Showing the number of unread items is very useful.

That option shows the number next to the folder in the folder list. It
doesn't affect the status bar.
