Try booting to Safe Mode, and authenticating there. (Press F8 on restart
black screen)

Validate or Activate? I suspect you mean the latter, as an inability to
validate would not prevent a logon. For activate, choose the phone method.

Actually her problem is her validation key is in lowercase and all she can
type is capitals <grin>
