My pictures will not open

Most of my pictures in my 'My Pictures' folder will not open or show as
thumbnails. I have noticed that all the pictures which will not work have
all been modified on the 20 Dec 2004, other pictures taken after that date
work ok. They are all JPG extension and when trying to view them with
windows XP it says 'No preview available'. In Infanview it say the file is a
PCD file with an incorrect extension. And asks if it should rename it. If I
say yes I get lots of green red and black vertical lines. I think my files
have been corrupted by something, can I get anything to restore them as my
backup CD is damaged when I tried to restore them. . None of these pictures
have been downloaded from the internet and I don't use aol or compuserve.

You shot them with a Kodak Camera right or had them made on to a Kodak CD ?
A PCD file is a compressed file developed by Kodak for there CD's. You might
try this link

See if that helps, you will need some software from them that will open that
file format. Im sure from there it will give you a option to convert to JPG.

Hi Thanks for the answer. I used a sony DSC-P31 camera to take the pictures
originally. They all had been working fine for the lasst 2 years then one day
in december they all seem to of been corupted. Pictures I have taken since
have download and worked fine. I may of had a virus or something, but I have
antivirus software and anti spyware etc, all up to date and they have not
picked it up. Any fiurtheer help would be appreaciated.
