My PC makes a whiring noise on start up.

For the last few days, my PC makes an awful noise on start up. Can anyone
tell me why it's suddenly started doing this and what causes it PLEASE? My PC
is off for 6 to 10 hours over-night and to stop this noise (like a whirring),
I have to switch it off using the button I use to switch it on, re-starting
doesn't stop it.
After a few switch on/switch offs, the PC starts up withoit the noise. So
far the PC hasn't made the noise without being started up (i mean, while it's
being used).

Dust in your fans, nicotine embedded??? Not saying you're a smoker but
if you are.............I've worked on machine where they were so
encrusted the fans just seized up.....Ewwwwww!
Open the machine & isolate the noise ....I would lean toward a fan.....
(I could be wrong) They are very easy to replace....Well, some
are....... ;0)

Yeah, it's a cheesy sleeve-bearing fan gone bad,
kinda a "HHHUUUUNNNHHHHHHHH" sound
that quits after a bit...

Make sure that when you replace the fan, you get
a ball-bearing one.

Did you open the case and try to determine where the noise is coming from?
What you have stated is similar to "my car makes noise. Where is it coming
from". How would we know?

The more information you give the better the answer you will receive. And
every answer will entail taking off the side cover. So you may as well do it
first.

If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!
