Very noisy?

My computer was recently wiped and had everything re installed.

It is working better know than prior to this.

However, It is making an awful noise! My PC is in my living room and is
driving everyone mad. I have an external hard drive which I use for back up.
When I switch this on, it makes a horrible whirring noise, but soon shuts
up. My PC however is making this noise all the time.

Any help? Suggestions?

Could be that the fan speed of your system? Could be that you nee to
download some software from your manufacturer web side to control them?
