noisy mouse

My mouse has started making a beeping noise every time I touch it. It sounds like one of those really early 'tennis' computer games. It is driving me crazy. How did this happen and can I get rid of it. I have tried System Restore to an earlier point in time but that didn't work. aaaaaargh.

What kind of mouse is it? If it is a wireless one, try changing the batteries. Try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers for it.
