My Network Places stops opening after several uses

I have been trying to get My Network Places to function properly. After a
reboot, I am able to open it correctly and look at my connections for several
times then it ceases to open at all. I have tried the following off of Help
and Support:
1. How to troubleshoot missing network connections icons in Windows Server
2003 and in Windows XP
2. How to determine and recover from Winsock2 corruption (reset winsock).

As before, they seem to work after the reboot, but then functionality is
lost. When I run IPConfig, I get the following:

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 5:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.3.119
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : ?
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.3.1

Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : ?
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Before resetting Winsock, I was getting what looked like a MAC address for
the IP address instead of a "?". There was also another entry, which
unfortunately I cannot replicate and cannot remember the exact name (although
it was another pseudo-interface). If anyone knows how to correct this
problem, it would be very helpful. I have tried everything I can think of
except reinstalling Windows XP.

Brian,

You have Teredo Tunneling aka IPV6. Get rid of that. IPV6 and Windows
Networking ("My Network Places") are problematic.

Dear Chuck,

Thanks for the tip. It fixed the problem 90% of the time, but occasionally
now I still get a slow or non-opening Network Neighborhood. IPConfig now
works as expected. Thanks.

Brian,

You have to fix one problem at a time. So diagnose the current problem.

Look at both "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and "net
config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this
article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
