My Microsoft spyware freezes

My Microsoft spyware freezes in the same place each time.
I have not been successful in getting the program to run
one time as yet. The program seems to work and find
spyware but freezes when it is going through the registry
keys. at around the 6583 files. I even tried running the
program in SAFE Mode. It is frustrating because I have
somehow downloaded "transponder-Aurora". I have no clue
how to get rid of it. I have tried spybot, spyweeper and
adware...Any advice?
