My computer w/XP is in another state-HOW to I protect it from the MS Blaster

I have a computer at home with Win ME and a computer in
another state with Win XP-- I am NOT in the state with the
XP computer to do the critical updates for the MSBLASTER
worm...

When I arrive at the home where I have Win XP, HOW do I
protect the computer from getting the MSBlaster worm,
since critical updates were not run ( I have not been at
the computer for over 3 months)...I want to make sure that
the XP computer does NOT get the virus and that I can
install the patch... I am NOT computer savvy but I have
disconnected the XP computer from the cable modem PRIOR
to leaving that computer 3 mos.ago....

Dell told me that by Dec. ( the time I will be back at the
Win XP computer- that microcoft should have fixxed the
problem and not to worry---yet Adlephia said I need to run
cd's of the patch and of symanntec's removal tool and
bring with me...I am TOTALLY LOST!!

All HELP will be greatly appreciated....

Andrea --

Simply download the patch, record it to a CD, then install
it (it's an executable file) on your Windows XP computer
BEFORE reconnecting your cable modem. Then make
sure your FIREWALL is properly enabled.
