my computer says it is locked

help !
my son was messing around with my keyboard and some how he managed to lock.
when i went to update somethings on my pc it said system was locked. up came
a lil icon that asked for a password and username . that has never happened
to me before. i called hp support and they wanted to charge me 75 dollars for
help because i no longer have a warrenty. my question is how come the icon
pops up ? how can i find the password ? i have had this pc since 2003 and
have looked through all the paperwork and i can not find any password or
username.

If you've never needed a password before when you turn the machine on, if
that is the password you are talking about the login, then it might be
configured to auto login, try turning the machine off, and back on, if it
won't shut down, hold the power button for 4 secs, it should power right
down, and fire it back up..

If it ain't that password, maybe he has activated the screensaver password?

if you have never entered a password, just hit enter, if some one has
entred a password and no one knows what it is, you’ll need to reset
the password.
