My Computer > My Documents points to LocalService\My Documents

In My Computer, if navigate into the "Mike's Documents" (i.e. My Documents)
folder, I end up in C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\My Documents,
where there is just one file: "DESKTOP_Mike_2006-07-08.txt", instead of going
into My Documents proper.

Why is that, and how do I fix it?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Click Start, Run and type Regedit.exe
Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DocFolderPaths

Fix the My Documents folder path for your account. It may be incorrectly pointing to the LocalService account.

Close Regedit.exe

Hi Ramesh,

Perfect answer. Fixed it. Out of interest, any idea what causes this?

Thanks, and Happy Holidays.

You're welcome.

No idea, Mike. But if this happens again, you can set an audit for the registry key to determine what is causing the problem.
